In 1969, the Bronco Roadster was dropped from the model lineup and the folding windshield and removable top were discontinued. Little would change for the 1968 model with the exception of front side marker lights and rear quarter panel reflectors for safety. Improvements included padded sun visors, backup lights, self-adjusting brakes, variable speed windshield wipers, and a dual master cylinder with a split hydraulic braking system as standard equipment. A few options that were available included a tow bar, winch, snowplow and auxiliary gas tank.įor 1967, the Bronco was available with Sport package trim, and the Sport Utility was renamed the Pickup. The early Broncos were sold without an automatic transmission or power steering as an option. Its foremost chassis feature was its Mono-Beam front suspension system that, combined with a short 92-inch wheelbase, made it an ideal off-road vehicle. The Bronco was an entirely new vehicle from Ford, sharing little in regard to frame, body, and suspension with other vehicles in the Ford line. The instrument panel was simple as well, and the windshield folded down if needed. The Bronco’s body was functional but simple, with an almost shapeless hood, flat glass, high front fenders, and an integral pickup box. Designed to compete against the Jeep CJ-5 and the International Harvester Scout, the Bronco was an austere four-wheel drive utility vehicle available as a Roadster, Sports Utility or Wagon.Īll three versions of the early Bronco were made from one body, as the roof for the Sports Utility and Wagon actually bolted on. In 1966, Ford entered the growing four-wheel drive recreational vehicle market with the introduction of the Bronco.

I called around for an upgrade kit specific to my hummer but was told they are all sold out and they don't make them anymore. The next buyer can have it repaired or buy a custom unit to install. Now the bad, the heater worked great but it was dripping coolant on passenger side floorboard. Great vehicle to own in the winter or for summer cruising. Have 6 spare ctis rims with decent tires that go with it. The ctis works great just changed the rims over.

The engine has been completely gone through, ransmission as well, ew cone filters, ew alternator, ew fuel pump and filter, ew water pump and thermostat, ew power steering pump, ew drivers window motor, adiator cleaned and resealed, ew dvd player with back-up camera, ew vents, ew glovebox, ew battery, ew paint, ew side marker lights, 2 sets of rims(11 rims and tires all together)-that is all I can remember right now. When I purchased this Hummer it had been sitting in storage for almost 10yrs. There has been a lot of time and money spent on this rig within the past year. Runs and drives great, tarts up everytime. Has been a blast!! This has the 5.7 gas engine.
Bought this last fall to fix up and drive.
